Biscuits & Taters…
Doesn’t Get any Greater!

There’s something special about a place where the biscuits come out of the oven still steaming, the coffee’s always fresh, and the folks behind the counter know your name before you even order.

What started as a dream shared between Sandi and Otto Hernandez has grown into something bigger than either of them imagined—a true family kitchen, rooted in hard work, love, and the simple joy of feeding people well. Sandi’s brother Joe is the quiet force in the kitchen, turning out hearty breakfast plates with the kind of care that only comes from someone who treats every order like it’s for family. Out front, you’ll often find Sandi and Otto’s daughters—Sara, Meghan, and Addison—smiling at the counter or leaning out the drive-thru window, making sure every guest feels welcome the moment they pull up.

In 2026, the community of Dawsonville showed us just how much that welcome goes both ways. Being named Best Breakfast in Dawsonville was more than an award—it was a full-circle moment. It told us that the early mornings, the long days, and the belief that good food and good people belong together had found a home here. We are deeply grateful for the way this town has opened its arms to our family. Every regular who walks through the door, every new face that becomes a familiar one, reminds us why we do this.

We are a family business, guided by the values that have always held us together. The same hands that knead the dough also pour the coffee and pass the plates. The same voices that call out orders also ask how your mama’s doing. And the same hearts that started this place are still the ones most excited to keep showing up—day after day—to serve the community that has so kindly served us right back.

Come on in. There’s a seat at the table, a biscuit with your name on it, and a whole lot of Southern hospitality waiting for you.

Our previous owners =

Jim Bartlett, owner and operator, wanted to bring his famous potato wedges and chicken biscuits back to the heart of Dawson county. Jim was working full time with custom cabinetry, after many years passed, he felt the desire to return to his true passion, running a restaurant. His second home was always Dawsonville. He and his wife Sherry were a large part of the community for years and loved their customers like family. In 2015, Jim decided to start fresh and call the new restaurant J & S Kitchen, after him and his wife.
